WHAT IS GUILD?
An exclusive and innovative opportunity for students designed to ignite interest in tech by teaching them how to code real-world, mission-driven applications.
Duration
1 Week (Monday-Friday)
Applications for Winter Guild 2024 will open in Fall 2024
Program Participants
Guild is open to all students at FIU. You can be enrolled in any major— or not have even decided on a major yet. No prior experience is required. See the bottom of the page for all eligibility requirements.

How do you know if something is a fit if you’ve never had the chance to try it out?

Check out our Guild program—your low-risk, high-reward chance to explore tech.

Guild is your opportunity to explore computing over the span of one week (Monday-Friday). This unique experience occurs twice a year (summer and winter) where students solve a real-life challenge tailored to their local community.

Participants will have the chance to engage in problem-solving projects and develop enduring skills in:

  • Computing and its intersection with Arts, Environment, & Life Sciences
  • AI and Ethics
  • Design Thinking for All
  • Computational Thinking
  • Quantitative Thinking
  • The Fundamentals of AI and Machine Learning
  • Data Science & AI
  • Careers in Computing and Technology
  • Teamwork/Presentation Skills/Emotional Intelligence

  • Open to all  FIU students, but especially focused on minoritized groups in tech and first-second year students
  • Miami Dade College students in their first or second year
  • Rising high school seniors for the summer Guild Getaway
  • You have completed College Algebra (MAC 1105) or are taking it during Fall 2024 

Guild was life-changing and led me to realize that the world of computing is not just coding, it's more than that! Guild allowed me to understand there is so much I can do with technology like solving real-world issues. I gained an amazing community that allows me to grow in this field.
